When I was growing up, my parents had a sour cherry tree as well as a sweet cherry tree. My mom would use both types of cherries for pies and other baking. I would help my dad pick them and I developed a love for tart cherries. They are quite hard to find so when I saw this organic tart cherry powder, I had to try it.This Montmorency tart cherry powder has lived up to my expectations! I mix a 1/4 teaspoon with my smoothie in the morning and another 1/4 teaspoon with water in the afternoon. Sometimes I even eat it straight out of the container! The flavor is subtle so mixing it with a tiny bit of water or tasting it straight brings the flavor to life. For me it's like grabbing a handful of sour cherries from our tree.When I was a kid, I didn't realize tart cherries are packed with nutrients and antioxidants. The manufacturer states that tart cherries have been shown to have higher antioxidant content than blueberries and cranberries. It also contains vitamins and minerals like B-complex, calcium, magnesium as well as Omega 3 & 6 making it a great way to support my overall health. Plus, knowing that it's made in Canada from Montmorency tart cherries sourced from the USA gives me peace of mind about its quality.Even though the price (over $35.00) may seem like a lot, a little goes a long way. It's amazing how one container lasts so long even though I use it daily. I would definitely recommend this product.
If you love having a tarty taste to your water, this is the item for you! I loved the flavor and found myself obsessed with ensuring my water bottle was refilled immediately after draining it! As a diabetic, the fact that this product was sugar free won my humble endorsement!
Half a teaspoon in the morning and in the evening especially during the winter help with immunity. It's not always easy finding fresh cherries. The powder is a great substitute.
This was surprisingly exactly as described and expected. The powder is very fine and though it takes some work to get it to dissolve fully in water, if it kind of clumps, it's very similar to a jelly or jam. And you'd expect it to be very tart, but there is a hint of sweetness to it as well. It's best in a recipe, or smoothie, rather than just drink it as a watered down flavoured beverage.
I realize it states it is milder in taste so I mixed it with water as per directions...not what I thought tart cherry would taste like. Since the flavor is too mild for me I added to smoothies. Since this is a healthy supplement done right by Canadians it is a great addition to healthy living!
